Educator Systems creates practical educational resources intended to support educators, education staff, schools, early childhood settings and other appropriate users.

Educational resources - not professional diagnosis

ES resources are educational tools. They do not provide or replace medical advice, psychological assessment, diagnosis, therapy, legal advice, clinical treatment, individual behaviour assessment, formal functional behaviour assessment, individualised behaviour support planning, emergency or crisis intervention, or advice from an appropriately qualified professional where such advice is required.

Diagnostic and disability-related content

Some ES resources discuss disabilities, diagnoses, developmental differences, behaviour, regulation, mental health or other areas relevant to education. This information is provided to improve understanding and educational practice.

Observable characteristics or behaviours described in an ES resource should not be treated as proof that a student has a particular diagnosis or condition. Diagnosis should only be undertaken by appropriately qualified professionals.

Individual students are different

No strategy works for every student. A resource may identify common patterns, considerations or approaches, but these must be considered alongside the individual student's strengths, needs, circumstances, culture, communication, environment and existing professional recommendations.

Professional judgement

Educators and organisations remain responsible for their own professional decisions. ES resources do not override legislation, regulatory requirements, Department or organisational policies, school procedures, professional codes, individual plans, medical recommendations or allied-health recommendations.

Where these conflict with an ES resource, users should follow the applicable legal, organisational and professional requirements.

Safety

ES resources are not designed for emergency response or crisis management. Where there is an immediate risk to a person's health or safety, users should follow their organisation's emergency procedures and obtain appropriate professional or emergency assistance.

Information changes

Education, research and professional guidance develop over time. ES reviews and updates resources where appropriate but does not represent that every resource will remain current indefinitely. Users should consider the publication or revision date and seek current authoritative guidance where required.
